The Czech Republic is a member of the European Union and a member of the Schengen Agreement. You can enter the country on a visa issued by any state of this agreement. There are no border controls within the Schengen area itself. And if you are going to travel to the Czech Republic often and regularly, then you need to get a Czech visa. It can be of two types: Schengen (short-term) and national (long-term). What documents do you need to collect for a visa?

Documents for obtaining a Schengen Czech visa and requirements for them

A Schengen visa entitles you to stay in the Czech Republic and other countries of the Schengen area for up to 90 days within a six-month period.

  • application form for a Schengen visa. It is filled in by hand or in electronic form - depending on the requirements of a particular consulate. In any case, the data is written or printed in Latin letters (transliteration). The questionnaire must be printed out, and a photograph must be pasted in the marked place. Signatures are affixed at the end;
  • passport - the original and a photocopy of the first page with a photo. Its validity period must be longer than that of the visa that you will be issued, at least for 3 months. The Czech Republic does not accept passports issued by Russia to residents of Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Crimea, and does not issue visas for them;
  • a copy of the civil passport - pages with a photo and registration;
  • one color photograph measuring 3.5 x 4.5 cm. The requirements for photographs are determined by the Visa Code, they are as follows: the face must be turned clearly from the front, not blurry and make up 70-80% of the total size. Background - white or light, plain. You can only take pictures with a headdress for religious reasons. In this case, the face must be completely open. The expiration date of the image is no more than six months. Any digital processing of the photograph is prohibited;
  • The sum insured is at least 30 thousand euros. Coverage area - "Schengen". If you are making out single entry visa, the number of days of insurance must correspond to their number in the visa. If the visa is multiple, insurance for the first trip will be enough;
  • document confirming the financial support of the trip. The amount is calculated in national monetary unit- Czech crown. You can store them in any currency, the main thing is that the amount in terms of money should not be less. The amount of funds that is considered sufficient for the Czech Republic: for a trip of up to 30 days - from 1100 CZK per day; up to 60 days - from 37400 kroons in total; from 90 days - from 41800 kroons in total. A document that can confirm that you have sufficient finances can be a bank statement. It must be on company letterhead, stamped and signed by the employee. It is desirable that it reflects the movement of funds for 3 months, especially if the amount of money in the account barely fits into the requirements. Instead, employees can provide a certificate of employment with information about wages for the last three months, and entrepreneurs - a certificate of registration and forms 2 personal income tax or 3 personal income tax. If your own funds are not enough, another person can become a financial guarantor. In this case, a sponsorship letter is sent to the consulate from him with the obligatory indication of all personal data and a copy of the sponsor's passport;
  • visa fee. The amount of the fee for Russians and Ukrainians is 35 euros, for urgent registration - 70. For citizens of other countries, including Belarus - 60 euros (for children from 6 to 12 years old - 35 euros). And for children under 6 years old from any country, visa processing is free. Money is accepted only in cash in euros;
  • transport documents. Information about booking tickets for transport (round trip), or documents for a personal car and auto insurance policy;
  • a document confirming the purpose of the trip. You mark the purpose in the corresponding paragraph of the visa application form. Depending on what you have chosen, the documents may be different, for example:
    • travel by invitation. The inviter can be a private person (relatives, acquaintances, business partners etc.) or company. In any case, the invitation must be issued in a special way. A private invitation can be in handwritten or printed form, it is certified by a notary. Business invitation - on the official letterhead of the inviting organization, certified by the seal and signature of the responsible person. Another way to make an invitation is through a special form through the Aliens Police Department in the Czech Republic. Consulates accept invitations only in the original;
    • a trip in connection with the ownership of real estate in the Czech Republic - an extract from the cadastre;
    • travel for the purpose of short-term work - permission from the Labor Office of the Czech Republic.

For citizens of Belarus, an additional document on social status is required. For employees - a certificate from the place of work with information about the position, duration of work and salary. Entrepreneurs submit a registration certificate and certificates of 2 personal income tax, 3 personal income tax. Pensioners - a photocopy of the pension certificate, and students - a certificate from their educational institution.

All documents are submitted in Russian or your national (Ukrainian, Belarusian) language.

Registration of a national Czech visa

A national visa entitles you to spend more than 90 days in the Czech Republic in six months. This means that the requirements for documents are more thorough. This is especially true for confirming the purpose of the trip.

  • application form for a long-term visa;
  • international passport;
  • original and photocopy of the civil passport;
  • two color photographs measuring 3.5 x 4.5 cm. The format is the same as for the Schengen visa. Photos are carefully cut out and signed on the reverse side. There you must specify the name, surname and date of birth (same as in foreign passport- with Latin letters);
  • overseas medical expenses insurance policy. The requirements for it for a national visa are different from the standard Schengen ones. The amount of insurance coverage must be at least 60 thousand euros. The policy is issued for the entire duration of the visa, regardless of whether it is single or multiple. The conditions of the insurance contract must state that its conditions exclude participation in the expenses of the insured person;
    certificate of no criminal record (from 15 years old);
  • a document guaranteeing the provision of housing for the period of residence in the Czech Republic. For example, a lease agreement or a notarized permission from the owner. It may be issued privately or legal entity. The main requirement is an indication of the dates from which and to which you will live at this address;
  • visa fee. The national visa fee is CZK 2,500. Money is accepted only in cash in euros at the current exchange rate;
  • for feedback - an A5 envelope with your home address and a postal form of notification of receipt addressed to you (form 119);
  • documents confirming the purpose of issuing a visa and financial support:
    • entrepreneurship: documents on registration of an enterprise in the Czech Republic or a certificate of entrepreneurship. For financial security, you need to provide a document stating that you have at least 110 thousand CZK for six months;
    • education: a certificate from an educational institution in the Czech Republic. Financial security - from 85,400 CZK per year, half of this amount is enough for minors;
    • family reunification: a document confirming your relationship (for example, a marriage certificate or birth certificate), it is advisable to attach a copy of the relative's documents. The amount of financial security - from 85,400 CZK per year, for minors - half of this amount.

Czech embassies are asked to provide copies of all documents. Documents must be in Czech or in a translation certified by a Czech notary. Translation and certification can be issued at the consulate, this service is paid.

Often a national visa is requested in order to find employment abroad. But this is not very applicable to the Czech Republic - it will be difficult to obtain a Czech national visa for the purpose of work. Due to high unemployment, the Czech Republic is taking steps to ensure that immigrants do not take the place of local residents. If you still want to find a job in the Czech Republic, it is better to choose a different path. The opportunity to work is given by a labor card (without qualification requirements), which is issued by the Police Department for Migration Policy of the Czech Republic, or an EU blue card (for highly qualified workers). The most popular options for obtaining a national visa are entrepreneurship, family reunification and study in the Czech Republic.

Documents for minors

  • international passport of the child or parent, in which data about the child are entered;
  • birth certificate - original and copy;
  • if the child has already received a civil passport, then a copy of the passport;
  • copies of valid Schengen visas, if they differ from the visas issued to the parents (this is only necessary when traveling together);
  • visa application for a child, which is submitted and signed by the parent (guardian);
  • permission to travel abroad if the child is not accompanied by both parents (certified by a notary);
  • photo.

Documentation requirements for children are the same as for adults. If the child is traveling alone, they will also need insurance, proof of purpose of travel, and a sponsorship letter. If together with parents, the amount of money is also calculated for children, and the child's data is entered into the policy.

Submission procedure

The first thing to do is to decide what type of visa you intend to apply for and where you will apply.

A Schengen visa is issued at Czech representations abroad - embassies and consulates or at VFS Global visa offices. National - only in official representations of the Czech Republic, through electronic registration.

The next step is to fill out an application form. Now consulates are gradually moving from paper to digital way of filing applications. Therefore, the conditions under which they are accepted may differ in different countries and change over time. Which of the methods to choose in a particular case, you will be explained in the Czech representations in your country.

Application methods:

  1. The questionnaire is filled out by hand on the form (download) and submitted simultaneously with all documents to the Czech Republic representation or to one of the VFS Global application acceptance points.
  2. The questionnaire is filled in in electronic format in the VISAPOINT system. On the site, you need to select the representative office of the Czech Republic, to which documents will be submitted. Then - register, enter all the data and wait for the approval of the application. The notification will be sent to the e-mail address specified in the questionnaire. Then book your appointment.
