Schengen visa for the unemployed: obtaining and processing

Countries that belong to the Schengen zone are very popular among domestic tourists. Every year, several million of our fellow citizens visit the countries of Europe, which is almost completely included in this zone. As you know, in order to obtain a visa, you must provide a certain set of documents to the consulate: a foreign passport, a civil passport, photographs, insurance, etc., and, as a rule, a certificate of employment.

But what about those citizens who do not work, or work, as is customary in our country, but not officially, but want to go to Europe? How to get a Schengen visa for an unemployed person? These are the questions we will answer in this post.

Four types of unemployed citizens

Roughly speaking, all people who do not have an official job can be divided into four groups - these are the unemployed themselves (the worst option, but not hopeless), pensioners, students and minor children.

Before describing all the requirements, I want to convey to you, dear readers, the main idea:

The main problem of the European Union, which created such a visa policy, is illegal migrants.

If you understand this and provide all the evidence of your return at the consulate, then a visa will be issued even to the last homeless person, the main thing is that they are 100% sure that after a tourist tour, he will return to his homeland and will not complicate the life of the taxpayers of blessed Europe.

1. Unemployed. In addition to the standard set of documents, it is advisable for you to provide a bank statement and pay for housing in the country in which you are applying for a visa. And also provide a travel plan, written by hand, which will include the route, as well as the number of nights in a particular city. If you eat by invitation, then you do not have to pay for accommodation.

As a rule, this is enough to get a visa for the unemployed, but as you can see, you need to pay for the hotel, and whether you stay there or not, this is your business. So, if your goal is another country, then after crossing the border you can simply head where you need to go.

2. Students dependent on their parents. They must bring information about the financial situation of their parents and official confirmation from the place of study. This is in addition to official documents and questionnaires.

3. Pensioners. Provide a copy of your pension certificate, and ideally, provide a statement of your monthly pension payments.

4. Underage children (14-18 years old). Submit the original birth certificate (and a copy thereof). A written letter from both parents giving permission to leave and confirming their financial responsibility for the entire trip of the child. The travel permit must be signed by both parents in person at the consulate or notarized. If possible, take a letter from the school that has been notified of the student's absence and is allowing travel. In addition, the applicant must go with at least one of the parents.

Attention A: The Consular Office has every right to request additional documentation. In addition, the presentation of the required and any additional documentation does NOT guarantee the issuance of any particular visa. Why so, we have described.

Bank statement and proof of residence

Before the expected date of submission of documents, open a bank account for yourself about a month in advance. After you have opened an account, use your card with some frequency: put funds on it, withdraw, pay for purchases in stores. Then you can already take a statement from the bank. In the bank, say for a visa, the bank employee must know what kind of statement, and he is obliged to issue it to you. Another important point is to open a name card, for the convenience of identifying the owner.

And now about booking a hotel. According to the experience of many unemployed tourists, the original hotel statement, which was sent by fax, works best in the form of confirmation of your stay. This option is much better than printed receipts for booking hotels through Internet services - hotels.com, Expedia, etc.

Which countries are easier to get a visa for the unemployed?

To begin with, it is desirable to know which embassies make the least refusals. Usually, these are Eastern European countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, as well as the Baltic countries - Lithuania and Latvia. Information about where it is easier to get a Schengen visa can be read.

Next, you need to look where it is possible to obtain a Schengen visa without a certificate of employment and without the need to provide other documents. Here the choice is clear -. The Polish embassy has some of the simplest requirements.

From personal experience:

I applied for a Schengen visa to Hungary, they called me from the consulate, asked the purpose of the trip, and also if I have a car and where I live, in a rented apartment or in a personal one. I replied that I had a car, and I also lived in an apartment shared with my parents.

And where did these migration problems come from?

It's all about friends being lazy and looking for an absurd answer to an even more absurd question: "How to live and not work?"

We will not touch on the topic of slavery and its impact on the demographic composition of Western European countries. Let's look back at the last half century.

After the war, Europe experienced a huge labor shortage. The first country to remember the “exploits” of its slave-owning fathers was France, which in the 1950s began to actively attract cheap labor (in other words, slaves) from the countries of North Africa and South Asia, mainly from its former colonies.

Nearly every country in Europe, to a greater or lesser extent, was lenient on emigration policy in the mid-20th century. After all, no one wants to do “dirty” and hard work, it is best to hire a hungry Arab from Algeria, who will do all this almost for free. The only problem is that the “hungry” Arab will not go back to the Sahara, but will remain in economically developed Europe, and will continue his genome here.

All this led to what we see now - a strict visa policy, strict accounting and increased requirements for migrants, from the outside. And from the inside: dependent and aggressive-minded heirs of all that “labor force” that has been attracted to Europe for the last 300 years.

As Karl Marx said:

A people that enslaves another people forges its own chains.

Now these chains are tightening tighter and tighter around the "neck" of Europe. Hence the tightening of visa and emigration policies. And besides, the intensity of emotions is already felt among the ordinary population of the European Union, remember at least the last October riots in Cologne ...

Answers to questions and feedback

We are going on vacation to Spain, but my wife is now a housewife, that is, officially unemployed. Will they give her a visa?

If you have enough funds for a family vacation, and you can show it with an extract from your bank account, then this circumstance should not cause any problems. It is not necessary for spouses to have each other's independent income.

Do not forget to provide your marriage certificate in addition to all the necessary documents.

This year I graduated from university and am currently unemployed. I'm looking for a job, but I can't find a good place yet. The question itself is - will they give me a tourist Schengen visa to France and is there a high probability of obtaining a multivisa? And yes, there is a bank account with 2200 Euros.

They can issue, but it all depends on your financial situation and your willingness to show your serious intentions to return. These two factors will be the most decisive.

The fact that there is money in the account is good, but it will also be a plus to provide any information that will guarantee your return - documents for real estate, some kind of participation in public organizations, that is, any information that will testify that you are something keeps here.

If you have questions about topics that we did not cover in the article, then write them in the comments and we will add them to this section, with our answers of course.

Post Scriptum

All of the above can be summarized in two sentences, which I hope will help you get a Schengen even if you are unemployed:

  • They need you only as a tourist or a person who will spend money in Europe;
  • They don't need you as an unofficial immigrant, which will be an additional burden on the economy of the European Union.

Therefore, if you do not officially work anywhere, then this is not a reason to abandon your plans - to go to Europe. You can always find a way out and get a visa, and maybe the easiest way is to find a job :).

But, nevertheless, the main rule is the most correctly prepared documents and give them what they want from you. Well, you understand me!
